The Federation for Community Schools works to ensure that the many stakeholders educating our children are engaged in the community school model.  The Federation works collaboratively with its members to accomplish the following:

Expand collaboration membership:  Create a comprehensive outreach plan to increase and maintain membership throughout Illinois.  With members throughout Illinois, the success of community schools will be heard by policy makers from urban, suburban, and rural areas, demonstrating the importance of community schools.

Promote the community school model:  Develop a comprehensive marketing and public relations campaign around community schools.  With effective and strategic communication, the Federation, as a collective of many voices throughout the state, will secure policy changes that are meaningful and supportive of community schools.

Ensure high quality and effective community schools:  Work to ensure that all community schools are of high quality and most effective in their performance, as the model becomes more formally recognized around the state.  With the implementation of more community schools around Illinois, the Federation wants to ensure that high quality community schools, which help students succeed as school and beyond, are the rule and not the exception.  

Provide professional development to community schools:  Serve as a resource for community schools throughout Illinois by providing professional development for those closely involved in the implementation and administration of these schools. With the community school movement still being relatively new, the Federation recognizes that there is a role for it to play in bringing together practitioners and in serving as the hub of best practices so those doing community school work are supported.
